Contributions
Created prototypes of pick-up items
Implemented video and resolution options in settings menu and tested build with different screen setups
Contributed to player stats architecture to allow retention of player cosmetics between races
Created character selection and customization menu, which includes player drop-in/drop-out and cosmetics selection
Post-Mortem
Snowpainters was my first project working in a large team, so I had to learn how to communicate within and across teams through the proper channels. I was able to collaborate often with members of other programming teams to determine how to implement systems and fix bugs, especially with player customization and stats. I also had to get feedback from producers and team leads to confirm that my work was meeting my tasks’ conditions of satisfaction. As a side effect of the team size, I found it more difficult to communicate with teams of other disciplines unless their work directly affected mine, which was only sometimes the case with UI.
